A Message to High School Counsellors from Xavier University

During this challenging time, we want to take a minute to recognize you. Every day you work to make sure that your students can be the most successful versions of themselves. We know that this work doesn't stop in the midst of COVID-19. We want to make sure you have the support you need from us to continue your great work.

To keep the health and safety of your students and their families top priority, we have postponed all on-campus events and daily visits until further notice. We have also extended our commitment deadline to June 1 to give students the time they need to deal with any uncertainty and make the college decision that is best for them.

Xavier University has and will always be devoted to giving students the resources they need to be successful. As you are working with your students, keep the following in mind:

  • Xavier's virtual tour: See Xavier's campus through the perspective of two current students and hear what makes it home for us.
  • The dedicated Xavier admission team: Connect your students with their admission counsellor. Our admission counsellors are excited to continue to support students via Zoom video chats, email, and phone through this time.
  • Xavier's test-optional policy: As you work with your juniors, remind them that Xavier wants them to submit an application that best represents their academic achievements and unique strengths. We know that students may not be able to take the ACT or SAT as planned this spring due to COVID-19 - Xavier's test-optional policy gives students the flexibility they need as they think about applying in the fall.

We are so proud of how our Xavier community has looked out for each other during this time. We want to make sure you know we consider you a part of our community! As you continue your work with students, please let us know how we can support you at askxu@xavier.edu.
