Clinic Directors and Administrators and Externship Directors Special Interest Groups Joint Meeting at Indiana University, School of Optometry
The Clinic Directors and Administrators and the Externship Directors special interest groups convened for their annual meetings at Indiana University, School of Optometry, from November 12–14. The program opened with a joint reception, providing members from both groups an opportunity to network with one another as well as with attending sponsors.
The following morning began with a guided tour of the Indiana University School of Optometry’s Atwater Eye Care Center in Bloomington, IN. The remainder of the day featured a blend of joint and separate sessions for each special interest group (SIG), including presentations from the Dr. Harue Marsden Honorary Lecture recipient, Dr. Cheryl Mengelt from Southern College of Optometry, and the Dr. Lester Caplan Memorial Lecture recipient, Dr. Vinita Henry from the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry. Attendees spent the afternoon engaging with more than twenty sponsor representatives in the exhibit hall before gathering for a joint dinner at Woolery Mill.
On Friday, each SIG held dedicated meetings to discuss priorities, plans, and operational considerations for the upcoming year.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Neil Pence and the Indiana University School of Optometry team for generously hosting us on their beautiful campus. Next year’s meetings will be held at the Illinois College of Optometry in late October.
