SCO Presents 2025 Alumni Awards

During Fall Homecoming and Continuing Education Weekend, Southern College of Optometry presented three alumni with awards in recognition of their professional achievements.

Receiving SCO’s Lifetime Achievement Award was Dr. Mark Lynn, a 1985 graduate. Young Alumni Awards were presented to Drs. Amy Puerto and Brittany Wright, both members of the Class of 2015.

Dr. Lynn was the owner of VisionWorks, with nearly 90 locations in 60 states. He now owns Lynn Family Sports Vision and Training as well as Lynn Family Vision in Kentucky.

Dr. Puerto practices in Louisiana, where she has served as president of her state association. She was her state’s Young OD of the Year in 2022, the AOA’s Young OD of the Year in 2023, and Louisiana’s OD of the Year this year. In June, she was elected to the AOA Board of Trustees.

Dr. Wright serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She previously spent four years on the faculty of the University of Missouri Saint Louis College of Optometry. She was named the National Optometric Association’s 2022 recipient of the Dr. Edwin Marshall Visionary of the Year Award.
