ASCO has many great publications for information and updates about the career of optometry and optometric education. If you want to learn more about what they are and how you can subscribe to them, keep reading! Please note, all subscriptions are free of charge and ASCO never sells your information.

Our monthly electronic newsletter is Eye on Education (eye.opted.org). It includes the latest information from ASCO, particularly updates on the Optometry Gives Me Life campaign, the strategic plan, and any important meetings. Eye on Education also includes news from our Corporate Contributors, our schools and colleges of optometry, and other optometric groups. The newsletter is great if you want to keep yourself up to date with what ASCO has been doing. To subscribe, simply click “subscribe” at the top of the page or click the provided link and fill out the information in the provided boxes. After this, you will receive the newsletter via email every month.

The link to subscribe to Eye on Education is https://www.naylornetwork.com/opto-nwl/signup.asp.

Eye on Optometry is the ASCO blog (https://optometriceducation.org/eye-on-optometry/). It has many posts from optometry students, Doctors of Optometry and sometimes our Corporate Contributors. Topics have ranged from why a student entered the field, why they are proud to be a part of it, study habits, the different modalities of optometry, and more. If you are a current student of optometry or considering becoming one, or a practicing OD, please subscribe to the blog. Just click on the green button that says “Subscribe to Email Updates” at the top right of the page and type your email in the box when prompted.

We are always looking for guest authors to write a blog or submit a video. We only accept guest posts from those inside the optometric profession. If you are interested in submitting a guest blog or video, please email ASCO’s Director of Communications, Kimberly O’Sullivan at kosullivan@opted.org.

The ASCO electronic Journal is Optometric Education (https://journal.opted.org/) and is published three times a year – in the Fall, Winter and Spring. It contains professional peer-reviewed articles, such as studies and case reports, about issues and important topics in the field of optometry and optometric education as well as an editorial from the Journal’s editor. This Journal is great to read if you want to gain more academic knowledge about optometry. In order to receive the Journal, type your email in the box labeled “subscribe via email” and click “subscribe”.

ASCO also has a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/AssociationofSchoolsandCollegesofOptometry). It is called “Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry.” It features interesting and fun videos, such as Doctors of Optometry talking about their journey to optometry, and from ASCO’s public awareness campaign Optometry Gives Me Life. These are very entertaining as well as informational about the field of optometry. Subscribe to the channel by going to https://www.youtube.com/c/AssociationofSchoolsandCollegesofOptometry and clicking the “subscribe” button at the top right.

Remember, there is no fee to subscribe to any and all ASCO publications.
