Sherrol Reynolds Appointed Chief of OD-3 Clinics at NSUCO
Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (NSUCO) is pleased to announce that Sherrol A. Reynolds, OD, associate professor, has been appointed Chief of OD-3 Clinics for the college’s clinical branch, The Eye Care Institute.
In this role, Dr. Reynolds will coordinate the entire third year clinical experience, including primary care and advanced care — covering glaucoma, electro-diagnostics and retina. She hopes to enhance NSUCO’s patient-centered clinical program and help better prepare students by the end of their third clinical year.
Dr. Reynolds received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and attended NSU College of Optometry, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry in 1996 and pursued a residency in primary care optometry. Prior to joining the faculty at NSUCO, she was an optometric liaison for Your Eye Specialist, working alongside noted glaucoma, retina and cornea specialists. Dr. Reynolds also served as an investigator in numerous research studies and has published multiple works on ocular disease.
Apart from her passion in academia, Dr. Reynolds serves as the current President of the National Optometric Association. She was awarded the National Optometric Association Optometrist of the Year in 2013. She also serves as chair of the Florida Optometric Association Healthy Eye Healthy People committee and the NOA’s liaison to the National Eye Institute National Eye Health Education Program.
Dr. Reynolds has spent many years giving back to the community, participating in projects such as international medical mission trips and mentoring at-risk high school students in Broward county. Dr. Reynolds hopes to bring a new level enthusiasm and a fresh perspective to the clinical education setting. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and the Optometric Retinal Society.
