ICO Faculty members Denise Alexopoulos, OD; Michael Chaglasian, OD; and Tracy Matchinski, OD, will be hosting our winter program.

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loyola University Chicago, Dr. Alexopoulos began her optometric journey at ICO, where she discovered her love for pediatric eye care. She completed the Pediatric & Infant Vision Residency at the SUNY College of Optometry, gaining valuable experience in both a university-based clinic and a high-volume hospital. She has now joined the ICO faculty full time as a clinical attending for third and fourth year students.

Dr. Chaglasian is an associate professor at ICO and chief of staff of the Illinois Eye Institute. He is a graduate of State University of New York College of Optometry and completed a residency in primary eye care/ocular disease at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Chaglasian is in charge of the Glaucoma Service at the Illinois Eye Institute, providing patient care while instructing residents and students. He is a founding member and treasurer of the Optometric Glaucoma Society and has a number of published articles and has contributed chapters to several popular textbooks on the topics of glaucoma and visual fields.

Dr. Matchinski graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1995, and since her first experience with a patient that was visually impaired during her 4th year in optometry school, she knew what she would do with her optometry career. She went on to a Vision Rehabilitation residency at the William Feinbloom Low Vision Rehabilitation Center of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. After completing her residency in 1996, she has practiced low vision rehabilitation full time. She splits her time between The Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and the Illinois College of Optometry. At the optometry school, she teaches the vision rehabilitation course and lab as well as provides care in the Rosenbloom Center. She has a special interest in pediatric Low Vision Rehabilitation. Dr. Matchinski is a Low Vision Diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry and is currently the Chair of the low vision Diplomate program. She has published and lectures both nationally and internationally on Low Vision Rehabilitation. She is also active in community service with VOSH, Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity. She is the president of VOSH/International and past-president of VOSH Illinois. She does local and international volunteer clinics throughout the year.

As an accredited institution with over 150 years of experience, ICO looks forward to sharing knowledge with other ODs. Be sure to check with your state board if live webinar CE courses will be accepted for license renewal. See ico.edu/continuing-education for pricing and registration.
