AZCOPT Pediatric Department Receives PEDIG Quality Award

The Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry’s pediatric department has received a Quality Award from the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG) for having an outstanding quality index of a 1.0 for two years in a row. This entails having zero protocol deviations among all of the patient enrollments for the recruitment year. In addition to receiving the quality award, AZCOPT was named PEDIG’s site of the month this past January.

PEDIG is a collaborative network dedicated to facilitating multicenter clinical research in strabismus, amblyopia, and other eye disorders that affect children. The network is funded by the National Eye Institute, with more than 100 participating sites.

AZCOPT faculty and staff involved in the PEDIG network include principal investigator and AZCOPT Dean Dr. Alicia Feis, sub-investigators Dr. Christina Esposito, Dr. Caitlin Miller, Dr. Matthew Roe, and Dr. Kelly Varney, and coordinator Mrs. Tracy Bland.
