UHCO Continues to Showcase ASCO’s Optometry Gives Me Life Campaign

Recently, Ellen Shaw and Lyle Tate, admissions and recruiting team members from the University of Houston College of Optometry, took part in ABRCMS, the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students, held in Anaheim, Calif.

During the three-day event, thousands of students from across the globe attended workshops, presented posters and visited with graduate program and employer representatives from more than 400 institutions. ASCO’s materials from their Optometry Gives Me Life public awareness campaign was prominently displayed in their booth.

“This was our second year to take part in ABRCMS,” said Tate, “and this is hands-down one of the very best opportunities out there to share our program information and optometry career information in general with extremely well-qualified, professional and passionate students interested in science and careers in healthcare.”

The UHCO recruiters came back to Houston with numerous promising contact leads and are already looking forward to meeting more amazing students when ABRCMS is hosted in San Antonio, Texas, in 2020.
