FYidoctors Mobile Clinic—Finally Here
After years of planning, FYidoctors officially launched its Mobile Optometry Clinic in Calgary this August, marking an important step forward in showcasing how outreach care can expand access to vision services and create meaningful impact in underserved communities.
The initiative began with a pilot event in partnership with Goodwill Alberta on August 14. Their staff members received eye exams and glasses. The excitement carried forward to the clinic’s public debut at Calgary's Pop-Up Care Village on August 21.
The results were inspiring:
- 18 comprehensive eye exams were completed
- 17 patients received new glasses
- OCT scans were used to assess ocular health and guide referrals
Among the most memorable moments were helping a patient with a 14.00 prescription finally regain clear vision after years without glasses and assisting a woman who had been relying on ill-fitting second-hand glasses for over a decade. Both walked away with proper eyewear—and a new outlook on life.
This mobile clinic reflects FYidoctors’ broader mission: to enhance lives and improve access to eye care. By partnering with local organizations and community events, the team is committed to reaching individuals who might otherwise go without essential eye health services.
The launch would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of countless team members behind the scenes and on the ground. And this is just the beginning—the Mobile Optometry Clinic will continue its journey, bringing vision care directly into communities across the country.
