Residency Experience at PCO/Salus Helps Prepare for Profession’s Complexities
Seeing her hometown area code pop up on her phone, Kelsi Jones, OD, ‘23Resident, assumed it must be a hometown acquaintance trying to reach her. Answering the call, the other line was not a familiar friend, but rather Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates in Havre de Grace, Maryland, which is located close to her home, offering her a primary care/ocular disease residency.
In the words of Dr. Jones, “the rest is history.”
Seven months into her affiliated residency through the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University, “every day has been a learning experience. For one patient, I’m thinking about binocular vision, and for the next patient I have to switch my thinking cap to anterior segment pathologies,” she said. “My experience is developing my thinking-on-my-feet optometry skills and really encompasses every sub-specialty I was taught in school. I believe this will prepare me for any patient that walks in my office no matter the complexity.”
