Incoming UIWRSO Student Goes Viral

Each year, the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry (UIWRSO) welcomes 68 students for the entering class. Recently, the admissions process was completed and the final offers were made for the Class of 2025.

Often, when a student is offered admission, they will celebrate privately with friends and family, or those closest to them. Occasionally, a glimpse is provided on social media regarding their acceptance and accompanying excitement. Ms. Gurjiv Kaur has taken this aspect to a new level as she has shared her acceptance with the world.

In a viral video, Ms. Kaur asked her parents to read her acceptance letter under the guise of a tongue-twister. As her father began reading the document, he quickly realized that he was holding something very special to both Gurjiv and the entire family. Gurjiv’s father responded with a genuine, unbridled excitement that was a gift to all who viewed the short video.

The video that was shared via Twitter has recently surpassed 9.7 million views and 886,000 likes. The story gained national attention having been picked up by the Today show.

UIWRSO welcomes each incoming student to the close-knit family community. Congratulations Gurjiv and the entire Class of 2025. We look forward to your arrival in August!
