Volk Optical’s VistaView™ Retinal Camera Streamlines Entire Image Capture and
Management Process

Truly portable device eliminates trade-off between quality and cost

Volk Optical’s new VistaView™ portable mydriatic retinal camera integrates Volk’s high-resolution, all-glass, double aspheric optics with an intuitive digital platform to capture sharp, wide-field fundus images while managing patient data right on the device.

Volk’s vision behind developing the VistaView was to provide every eye doctor with the opportunity to own a reliable, affordable and connected retinal camera, without having to compromise on quality. The result is an all-in-one device that offers the widest field of view of any mydriatic fundus camera in its class at 55˚. The onboard app features include image review, enhancement and analysis, and instant password protected report generation and transmittal. All this image quality and computing power comes at a fraction of the cost of traditional desktop fundus cameras.

Volk worked closely with doctors around the world to develop this device with features that fit users’ imaging and workflow needs. Ultralight and ergonomic, the VistaView takes fundus photography out of the exam room to waiting rooms, patient rounds, nursing homes and screening events.

A voice capture option leaves both hands free to position the device for the best quality images. Autofocus delivers crisp, clear retina photos, with a manual focus giving users more control. Illumination adjustment increases comfort for photophobic patients and creates ideal image capture conditions for diverse retina pigments. Password protected reports and DICOM images are easily shared or exported for billing, consultation and referral.

According to Dr. K. V. Chalam, Professor and Director of Retina at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, “The VistaView is portable and so easy to carry anywhere; especially to cater to patients in nursing homes or those with disabilities that cannot sit at a slit lamp. The images are very clear and crisp, and I’ve been able to obtain about 60˚ field of view. This is a great tool for residents as it allows them to use it wherever they are, in-house, in EMT situations day or night! Irrespective of the level of training, residents feel very confident in using this device, sending images to me that I can examine, monitor, and give an opinion instantaneously.”

“The VistaView was inspired by the many doctors from around the world who expressed an overwhelming desire to own a personal high-quality, connected and affordable retinal camera,” explained Volk President, Dr. Jyoti Gupta. “The VistaView integrates the power of Volk optics with the simplicity and affordability of smartphone technology, allowing everyone access and ownership of a quality portable, mydriatic retinal camera, which directly serves our purpose of eradicating preventable blindness through accessible imaging of the eye.”

The VistaView is the latest addition to Volk’s growing portfolio of user-centered, high-quality digital imaging solutions. The Pictor Prestige™, released in February 2020, is a non-mydriatic portable fundus camera with powerful small pupil capabilities.
