Salus PCO Residency Match Day

Because of the closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March, Residency Match Day was a little different this year. But that didn’t temper the thrill that’s normally associated with it.

Match Day, this year announced on March 16 for the 2020-21 residency class, is when all residency programs and candidates who applied received their results on where they ultimately are matched after a season of residency interviews that begins in October and closes at the end of February every year.

Five students at Salus University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) were matched with The Eye Institute (TEI) of Salus University. They include: Fiza Tariq ‘20OD (pictured), pediatrics/vision therapy and rehabilitation; Laura Davis ‘20OD, primary care/ocular disease; James Forde ‘20OD, primary care/ocular disease; Ryan Yee, ‘20OD, cornea/contact lens; and Dominic Brown, ‘20OD, low vision rehabilitation.

In addition to the five PCO students, others and their schools include:

  • Primary care/Ocular disease: Preet Dhami, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; Shaghayegh Mohebbi Hesari, Arizona College of Optometry at Midwestern University; Korey Patrizi, UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry; Milena Stefanovic, Pacific University School of Optometry.
  • Pediatric/vision therapy: Julia Runco, Illinois College of Optometry.
  • First-year (incoming) Neuro-ophthalmic disease: Elizabeth Marunde, UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry.
  • Second-year (continuing) Neuro-ophthalmic disease: Tina Zeng, University of California Berkeley School of Optometry.
