Baystate Medical Center Receives 600 Pair of Safety Glasses for Frontline Staff
Hoya Vision Care Provides Critical PPE to Busy Hospital

Hospitals and care givers in major metropolitan areas with COVID-19 hot spots are desperately short on PPE, Personal Protective Equipment. Ophthalmic lens technology leader and ALLY of the ECP, HOYA Vision Care, donated 600 pairs of safety glasses that are ANSI-rated, anti-fog, with polycarbonate lenses in a wrap frame to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. These safety glasses were given directly to the staff on site at one of the busiest hospitals within 100 miles. Staff were able to wear their new safety glasses immediately.

Scott Berg, Vice President, Philanthropy, Baystate Health Executive Director, Baystate Health Foundation said, "We are thankful to Hoya Vision Care for its donation of protective eyewear to Baystate Health. Your support of our community during these uncertain times has been incredible and we are so grateful that you have gone above and beyond to give back."

In addition, Shelley Hazlet, Manager of Public Affairs noted, "Thank you Hoya for your incredibly generous donation. These critical PPE items are saving lives. You are saving lives though your donation. I can't thank you enough."

Baystate Medical Center is consistently ranked among the best hospitals in Massachusetts as well as in the United States overall by U.S. News & World Report.

Patrick McCarthy, Regional Vice President with Hoya’s ECP Division, and Massachusetts native, was instrumental in making the connection and ensuring quick delivery of the safety glasses.  He stated, “Hoya’s mission is to support the local Eye Care Professional. When this virus began to impact the communities of our customers, it was clear the best way to help is to support the needs of first responders who keep us safe. By keeping first responders safe, collectively we can put an end to this pandemic – and local independent Eye Care Professionals can go back to bringing best vision solutions to their patients.”

If you are an eyecare provider offering services and materials to your local first responders please contact Richard Sol at richard.sol@hoya.com for information about potential contributions or donations from HOYA.
