ASCO Meetings Go Virtual

Due to social distancing requirements and precautions necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19, most of ASCO’s meetings normally held in June (in concert with AOA’s Optometry’s Meeting) and July will now be held virtually.

The exact virtual meeting dates and times are being finalized and will be released shortly. Being reformatted are the following events for June:

  • ASCO’s June Board of Directors meeting;
  • ASCO’s Annual Meeting;
  • ASCO’s Leadership Awards presentations
  • ASCO committee meetings, such as meetings of the Leadership Development Implementation Task Force, the Applicant Pool Advisory Committee, and the Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice Committee;
  • Group meetings held by the Chief Academic Officers group and the Student Affairs Officers group;
  • Joint meetings with leaders of other organizations, such as AAO, AOA, and ARBO.

Some additional events have been cancelled and rescheduled for the future. For example, ASCO’s Corporate Contributors Breakfast can’t be held virtually; instead, a virtual town hall meeting with corporate contributors has already been held and a special reception is being scheduled for the fall during the AAO conference in Nashville.

ASCO meetings normally held in July that will be reformatted for a virtual meeting environment are the meetings of the ASCO Low Vision Educators Special Interest Group (SIG) and the Ophthalmic Optics Educators SIG.

Information regarding specific dates and times for these virtual meetings will be released as soon as it becomes available.
