ASCO Cancels the Low Vision Educators and Ophthalmic Optics Educators SIG Meetings Amid COVID-19 Crisis

During this unprecedented time of COVID-19, ASCO leadership, in concert with the Low Vision Educators and the Ophthalmic Optics Educators SIG chairs, have made the difficult and unfortunate decision to cancel both meetings.

The Low Vision Educators SIG meeting was scheduled to take place on July 9-11, 2020 while the Ophthalmic Optics Educators SIG meeting was scheduled to take place on July 23-25, 2020.

ASCO is working on making adjustments to its normal meeting operations to find alternate ways of keeping the momentum of SIG projects moving forward and encouraging the peer-to-peer learning that takes place during in-person meetings.

As always, ASCO's number one priority is to create valuable educational events in a safe and healthy environment. ASCO is monitoring federal, state, and local mandates and recommendations, and strives to make the best possible decisions in the best interest of members and staff.

ASCO is hopeful to be able to hold its fall SIG meetings in conjunction with the October Academy meeting in Nashville and will keep members posted as details become available.
