League of Champions
OGCA, in partnership with MySafeWork, has launched the construction industry's League of Champions, with the goal of changing the safety culture in Ontario. This involves reaching out to the next generation of employees, construction workers and industry leadership. Presentations, events and programs are being rolled out to support this goal.
Many OGCA members appear to be paying the unnecessary high rate for their owner, partner, or executive officer who is not on the tools.
Safety
This year, the ministry is coordinating the proactive enforcement blitz and initiative schedules for the Occupational Health and Safety Program, as well as the Employment Standards Program. Coordinating the schedule highlights the importance that the ministry places on enhancing employers' awareness of their responsibilities and protecting workers' rights under both the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and the Employment Standards Act (ESA).

An overwhelming amount of support from employees and subtrades made this event a huge success! Rob Ellis was on hand for several events at various locations across the province. Walsh, EllisDon, GEN-PRO, Merit, PCL, Turner, Kenaidan and Alpeza also held events to celebrate Safety Week. More pictures will be coming in the next few weeks from some of these events.

EllisDon hosted several events across Ontario, including Ottawa and Yorkdale in Toronto. Both events were attended by the Chief Prevention Officer George Gritziotis and MySafeWork's Rob Ellis.

OGCA Chairman and his company Ball Construction recently held their Safety Week events in Kitchener. Several League of Champions jerseys were available for everyone to sign, showing their support for creating a Safety Culture in the workplace.
