Ontario Government Imposes Additional Restrictions to Curb COVID-19

Effective October 10, 2020, at 12:01 a.m., and for at least 28 days, the Ontario Government has enacted the following restrictions in Peel, Ottawa, and Toronto to curb the spread of COVID-19:   

• Social gatherings and organized public events are limited to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors if physical distancing can be maintained. The two limits cannot be combined.
• Indoor food and drink service at bars, restaurants, nightclubs and other food and drink establishments is prohibited. Outdoor and takeout service continues to be permitted.
• The following businesses must immediately close:
  • Indoor gyms and fitness centres
  • Casinos, bingo halls and other gaming establishments
  • Indoor cinemas
  • Performing arts centres and venues
  • Spectator areas in racing venues
  • Interactive exhibits or exhibits with a high risk of personal contact in museums, galleries, zoos, science centres and landmarks
• Any personal service where a face covering must be removed for service is prohibited.
• Reduced capacity limits (10 persons indoors and 25 persons outdoors) for:
  • Tour and guide services
  • Open houses
  • In-person teaching and instruction (cooking classes, music lessons) with exemptions for schools, child care centres and other specified educational facilities
  • Meeting and event spaces (with special rules in place for weddings)
• Team sports are limited to training only (no games or scrimmages).
