Working for Workers Act 2, 2022 Receives Royal Assent
Working for Workers Act 2, formerly known as Bill 88, has now received Royal Assent in the Ontario Legislature. The omnibus legislation amends labour and employment legislation by:
- establishing timelines under the Fair Access to Regulated Professions and Compulsory Trades
Act, 2006 relating to the registration of domestic labour mobility applicants in regulated
- amending the Occupational Health and Safety Act to require the provision of naloxone kits in
- increasing the maximum fines that can be issued for health‐and‐safety offences under
the Occupational Health and Safety Act; and
- lengthening limitation periods for charges under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Construction employers should prepare to comply with any new requirements applicable to their businesses, including implementing a written electronic monitoring policy within six months of the date on which Bill 88 receives Royal Assent.
