We at the LOC are gearing up for a couple of very busy weeks, starting with the National Day of Mourning on April 28. We will be observing the virtual ceremony hosted by WSIB (WSIB Day of Mourning) beginning at 10:45 a.m. followed by a Moment of Silence at 11 a.m.

The League of Champions are encouraging all members to organize a Safety Stand Down and observe a Moment of Silence at 11 a.m. to honour all who have suffered a workplace death, injury or illness, and show our support for their families, friends and colleagues whose lives have been changed by these devastating occurrences.

For additional resources, see the links below:

WSIB Safety Resources
WSIB has some resources available that can help to make Ontario a safer place to work:
* Visit Safety Check (wsib.on.ca) to check on your workplace’s safety record
* Owners can log into Compass Login-WSIB Online services (b2clogin.com) to find and analyze their business’ safety data
* WSIB Health and Safety Excellence program can help businesses develop a health and safety program.

Threads of Life
If you or a loved one has been affected by a workplace death, injury or illness, The Association for Workplace Tragedy Family Support, known as Threads of Life, may be able to help. They provide services like grief counselling, crisis intervention support and health coping skills development.

We are now just days away from the 2021 Steps for Life - Threads of Life walk. The LOC staff are excited to be participating in this year’s event. If you are taking part in this event as a team or individual, please send us your photos and we will share them on the www.loc.ca website and social media.
