Stand Up! Step Up! Support Canadian Families Experiencing Workplace Tragedy

This past December proved to be one of the deadliest months in recent memory for the construction industry. Due to the unprecedented fatalities, the construction industry in Ontario was asked to pause and STAND DOWN for safety.

Contractors across the province were asked to take a moment with their workers to reflect on these recent tragedies. After reflecting, employers were encouraged to have safety talks, noting that safety is everyone’s responsibility, that workers and supervisors need to stay focused, and that the construction industry needs to remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring every member of our construction family goes home safely.

Now, Threads of Life, the OGCA and the League of Champions are asking the Construction Sector to STAND UP and STEP UP for workplace health and safety, and help Canadian families who have experienced workplace tragedy heal.

Threads of Life’s annual Steps for Life – Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy takes place the first week of May. Together, we walk to:

  • Honour those that have experienced workplace tragedy
  • To create community awareness on the importance of workplace health and safety
  • To raise funds for in support of the Threads of Life peer-based support programs

Threads of Life is a National charity that provides peer-based support programs to Canadian families who are experiencing a life-altering workplace injury, illness or death.
