Employers will be required to provide hearing protection where required and put in place measures to reduce workers’ exposure. Please click here for more information.

The MOL has also issued their intention to amend regulations relating to Suspended Access Equipment, effective January 1, 2017. The proposal is similar to the proposed changes in a discussion document issued this spring. Please click here for more information.

The Ministry of Labour has also issued a proposal to mandate Construction Hazard Awareness Training. The Safety Committee has met with the MOL to receive the presentation and will be responding to the proposal.

If implemented, it will require all construction workers to receive an MOL-prescribed awareness training program before they begin work for the contractor. Companies with Joint Health and Safety Committees will be allowed to add the prescribed material to their existing orientation material. It proposes a two-year window to provide training to the industry. Please click here to see the proposal.
