Between The Pipes
NYRWA News

As many of you know, each year the New York Rural Water Association distributes one-time grants to five students across New York State valued at $500.00 each to help defray the cost of tuition, books, or room and board at an accredited institution of higher learning approved by the NYRWA.

We are asking you, our members, to help distribute our Founder’s Scholarship Application to your local high school guidance offices to ensure students from your area have an opportunity to apply. Please share the application found on this link (https://nyruralwater.org/sites/default/files/2021%20Scholarship%20Application.pdf) with your local school guidance office. The guidance office can copy and distribute the application to students within your village, city or town. Before you provide this to the school, please fill in the "NYRWA Member System Name” i.e. Village of ……..

This is a member benefit and we appreciate your assistance in ensuring students from your area have this opportunity to apply. In order to be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must complete the application form in its entirety and return it to the NYRWA by the entry postmark deadline, February 5, 2021. All pertinent information on applying are within the official rules, including the requirement to include an essay and student transcripts to be eligible.

Thank you one and all for your continued support of this association!

In an abundance of caution, and due to the continued impacts of COVID-19, NYRWA has made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person 2021 Annual Technical Training Workshop & Exhibition.  In an effort to bring our members together and to provide the valuable training needed by our industry professionals, NYRWA has decided to hold a 2-day web-based training conference on May 18 & 19, 2021. While details are still in the works, we anticipate offering (8) one-hour dual certified webinar style training sessions coupled with our Annual Business Meeting and a few cash drawings. Our thanks to our Associate Members who have stepped up to provide this training, showing their commitment to this association yet again! Details and an agenda will follow in the near future. We hope you all will be willing to take this leap with us, until we can meet again in 2022. Stay tuned…

Upcoming Training

We have received several phone calls and emails regarding Grade A Compliant Laboratory classes in recent weeks. Starting in the last week of February, we are planning no less than 18 lab classes across the state over the course of 2021. These sessions will be in-person, and will meet the mandates for social distancing and masks where applicable. Additional classes will be added, if necessary, to meet the needs of our members.  Please check our website at: https://www.nyruralwater.org/training/classroom-training for our renewal course offerings.
