NYRWA News
Thank you and Merry Christmas to our Associate Members 2020 has proven to be a difficult year given COVID-19, shutdowns, personal and employee safety concerns, lost revenue, and the list could go on and on. Each of us have needed to overcome these hurdles, adapt to changes such as physical distancing, masks, and video conferencing, and change the way in which we conduct our lives personally and professionally. Given the circumstance, no group has likely felt the difficulties this year has brought more than our Associate Members. Our Associate Members fuel this association with advertising, sponsorships, dues, and by providing the training our system members need. Their willingness to help is apparent each and every day. NYRWA continues to be successful due to the commitment and dedication of both our Associate and System Members. At this time, probably more than ever, our Associate Members are feeling the financial difficulties resulting from this global pandemic. We ask that should you be looking for materials or services, please first consider giving the opportunity of your business to our well-deserving Associate Members. As many of you know, each year the New York Rural Water Association distributes one-time grants to five students across New York State valued at $500.00 each to help defray the cost of tuition, books, or room and board at an accredited institution of higher learning approved by the NYRWA. We are asking you, our members, to help distribute our Founder’s Scholarship Application to your local high school guidance offices to ensure students from your area have an opportunity to apply. Please share the application found on this link (https://nyruralwater.org/sites/default/files/2021%20Scholarship%20Application.pdf) with your local school guidance office. The guidance office can copy and distribute the application to students within your village, city or town. Before you provide this to the school, please fill in the "NYRWA Member System Name” i.e. Village of …….. This is a member benefit and we appreciate your assistance in ensuring students from your area have this opportunity to apply. In order to be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must complete the application form in its entirety and return it to the NYRWA by the entry postmark deadline, February 5, 2021. All pertinent information on applying are within the official rules, including the requirement to include an essay and student transcripts to be eligible.
