Message from the Chair

Thank You to our Members

July 1 kicks off a new fiscal year for NYSAE. At our virtual Annual Meeting several weeks ago, we were able not only to reflect on our accomplishments during the past year but also to set the stage for what is to come.

A year ago, as leaders of associations, hospitality companies, and other businesses, we reacted quickly to the pandemic as we shifted our plans, budgets, and events to carry on in what we thought would be a short-lived pandemic.

Questions to Answer Coming Out of COVID Quarantine Protocols

Do you remember your feelings as you were about to start school every year? Do you remember the questions that ran through your mind? What if those thoughts and anxieties are still relevant as we go back to the office for the first time?

Here are six areas of questions from employees and employers that you are likely to encounter.
Meet NY Spotlight

Have you heard the news? Meet NY, NYSAE’s marquee buyer-hosted event, will be returning to Broadway this Fall to see the hit musical Come From Away on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. The event will start at New York’s Marriott Marquis in Times Square at 2 p.m. with a welcome reception from the NECVB Reps, before rolling into education and the reception/tradeshow. Then it’s off to see the show. If you’re a key decision maker for your organization, or a meeting planner, you’re encouraged to register to attend here. Registrants will be matched with a host and receive an invitation to the tradeshow, reception, and a ticket to Broadway!

If you’re a hospitality or supplier partner looking to make your mark in the NYC tri-state area, then Meet NY 2021 is your chance. Tables are going fast, don’t miss your chance to participate. Contact Alan Goodin for more information on participating in Meet NY 2021.

Synergy Awards

The 2021 Synergy Awards is your chance to celebrate the successes of the association community over the past year. We have an incredible slate of honorees ranging from Joe Benincasa, President & CEO of the Actors Fund, to Melva Miller, CEO of ABNY, to NYC & Company and the New York State Restaurant Association. For the month of July we’re extending our early bird registration rate to share the savings with our community.

The event will be an in-person breakfast held at the fabulous Current at Chelsea Piers on Oct. 29 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. Registration will open an hour early to ensure that there will be an appropriate amount of time for networking and catching up with colleagues.

Want to extend your support past in-person attendance? Sponsorship opportunities include award presenters, table, and half tables. For more information contact Alan Goodin at AGoodin@kellencompany.com.

Strategic planning has never been more important. Cathi will lead you through the basics of strategic planning for your chapter to know the direction is should be heading and steps to get there. Developing a plan is much more than writing down the goals and steps to achieve them, it starts with the commitment of the board to develop the plan but continues with the commitment to frequently discuss and revisit the plan. Outlining the process, she will give you the steps to go from BHAG to SWOT to plan and include a cheat sheet that will help make this as easy as possible. And yes, in these times you can do it virtually.
