The five boroughs are gearing up for NYC Homecoming Week events that will take place August 14–22, beginning with “It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC” free concerts in the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens, culminating with WE LOVE NYC: The Homecoming Concert, produced by New York City, Clive Davis and Live Nation on the Great Lawn in Central Park on Saturday, August 21. Additional offers throughout the week include outdoor activities, free movie screenings, public art, deals on dining with an extended NYC Restaurant Week.

It is important to note that the Delta variant now accounts for the majority of positive cases in NYC as well as surges across the United States. Last week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) updated guidance to recommend that all individuals, including those who are vaccinated, mask up indoors in areas of “high” or “substantial” transmission. In an effort to encourage more vaccinations across the city, Mayor de Blasio announced a new incentive of a $100 reward for those who get vaccinated at city-run vaccination sites. Beginning Sept. 13, the city will require all municipal employees to provide one-time proof of vaccination or weekly COVID-19 tests, in addition to the mandate last week requiring NYC Health + Hospitals employees and those working in Department of Health and Mental Hygiene clinical settings to provide proof of immunization or weekly tests beginning Aug. 2.
