Congress has recently passed multiple bills that provide COVID-19 financial relief for individuals, small businesses, public institutions and some nonprofit organizations. Associations of all sizes, varied functions and disparate industries comprise Section 501(c)(6). More than 62,000 501(c)(6) organizations across the country play a critical role in times of greatest need, such as after natural disasters or catastrophic events such as the current pandemic.
Unfortunately, associations and 501 (c) (6) organizations have been omitted from legislation enacted to-date. The HEROES Act, currently on the Senate floor, offers potential for inclusion of these organizations in future relief efforts. Now, more than ever, we must demonstrate to Congress the association community’s positive impact on American economy and society. Associations, along with businesses, other nonprofits and workers across the country, are reeling from the devastating health, safety and financial effects of COVID-19.
American Associations Week (AAW) will highlight meaningful ways that associations strengthen society, and provide programming and resources to amplify these messages and mobilize your stakeholders to help inform members of Congress.
