Pending home sales increased for the second consecutive month in March and reached their highest level in almost a year, according to the National Association of REALTORS (NAR).The Pending Home Sales Index, a forward-looking indicator based on contract signings in March, climbed 1.4 percent to 110.5, 1.4 percent above March 2015. The index increased 3.2 percent in the Northeast to 97 in March, and is now 18.4 percent above a year ago. To read the entire NAR press release,click here.
 
REALTOR Lobby Day gives NYSAR members the opportunity to advocate for NYSAR's legislative priorities including a statewide First Home Savings Account program. Plan now to come to Albany on Tuesday, May 24, and email Government Affairs Director Mike Kelly to RSVP. NYSAR will reimburse up to $75 per person for individual travel expenses. Breakfast, lunch, lobbying orientation and lobbying materials will be provided. There are only 5 rooms left at the Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Albany under the NYSAR room block, which expires on Friday, May 6.

 
The National Association of REALTORS’ REALTOR Magazineis seeking nominations for the 2016 Good Neighbor Awards. The program recognizes REALTORS whose extraordinary commitment to community service has helped make their communities better places to live. Five winners will receive a $10,000 grant for their community cause and travel to the 2016 REALTORS Conference and Expo. Five honorable mentions will receive $2,500 grants. Entries must be received by Friday, May 13.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
The New York State Department of Labor has provided a PowerPoint presentation offering an overview of rules, work standards, licensing requirements and exemptions for mold remediation, assessment and abatement. The presentation can be found here.
 
REALTORS who are planning to attend the 2016 REALTORS Legislative Meetings and Trade Expo should plan to participate in the webcast will take place live on Wednesday, May 4, at 2 p.m. Visit the registration page to sign up for this broadcast. RPAC

Our April RPAC Auction item winner was NYSAR Past President Bob Galliher from the Mohawk Valley Association. Bob submitted the high bid of $300 for the pair of NY Mets baseball tickets.
