NYSAR supported change to Real Property Law sec. 441-a has been signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. This legislation removes the fee to file a termination when an associate broker or salesperson leaves one brokerage for another. Click here to learn more.
 
New York State REALTORS closed 8,745 sales in July, up 4.7 percent from the July 2011 total of 8,352. The statewide median sales price reached $233,000, an increase of 5.9 percent compared to the July 2011 median of $220,000. Pending sales were also up in July. Click here to learn more.
 
REALTOR University offers a 36-credit-hour, 12-course graduate-level program to help you differentiate yourself from your competition. GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
Gov. Andrew Cuomo hosted a Regional Economic Development Council meeting yesterday which featured updates on the 739 projects that receive state funds from last year's REDC awards. Cuomo also announced $25 million in grants to bring high speed Internet access to underserved communities throughout the state. Click here to learn more.
 
New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli proposed legislation that would establish a natural gas damage recovery fund program. Under the proposal, if contamination from hydraulic fracturing of natural gas in New York State does occur, the party that causes the contamination would be held responsible for the full cost of cleanup. NYSAR is currently in the midst of forming an official position on the issue. Click here to learn more.
