As of January 1, 2011, the new agency disclosure form is required for all residential real property transactions including condominiums and cooperative apartments/units. Furthermore, the new agency disclosure form permits consumers to consent to dual agency and dual agency with designated sales agents in advance. Copies of the new forms can be found here.

The New York State Association of REALTORS will hold its Mid-Winter Business Meetings January 31-February 3 at The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany, NY. In addition to the full schedule of committee meetings, the 2011 leadership team and regional vice presidents will take the oath of office during the inaugural dinner on Monday, January 31.

According to the latest poll by the Siena Research Institute (SRI), the New York State consumer home buying plans increased 0.5 points to 4.5 percent in December. Overall, New York State consumer confidence decreased 1.5 points, while the nation's confidence increased 2.9 points. At 65.6, New York's overall consumer confidence is 8.9 points below the nation's confidence level of 74.5.

In its Year-End 2010 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions, RealtyTrac, Inc. reported New York State annual, fourth quarter and December 2010 total foreclosures had decreased. A total of 43,913 foreclosures were filed in New York State during 2010, a decrease of 12.82 percent from 2009. New York ranked 42nd of all 50 states for total foreclosure filings.

The National Association of REALTORS (NAR) REALTOR Magazine's Good Neighbor Society is seeking entries for Volunteering Works, a program that matches REALTORS who would like to expand their community service outreach with a mentor who is already a successful volunteer leader.

The Good Neighbor Society is soliciting applications from REALTORS who work on small-scale charitable efforts that have great potential for growth.
