During the Association Update at the Fall Business Meetings in Rye, 2010 NYSAR President Hank Fries provided a recap of NYSAR's activities on behalf of its members during the year, Michael Wallender, Esq. presented information about key legal issues affecting the industry and Steve Babbitt recapped Saturday's REBar Camp.

Also during the Association Update, the 2010 REALTOR of the Year award was presented to J.P. Endres-Fein of White Plains, NY. She is the 53rd recipient of the REALTOR of the Year award, which recognizes outstanding service to the REALTOR organization at the local, state and national levels, a strict adherence to the high principles of the National Association of REALTORS Code of Ethics, a commitment to civic activity and business accomplishments.

Meeting attendees also took part in the third annual "REALTORS Got Talent" show to raise money for RPAC as well as the Young Professionals Network (YPN) kickoff event.

Recent attacks by critics are threatening programs and incentives that would make homeownership more affordable to more Americans. In an effort to counter these attacks, the National Association of REALTORS is launching the Value of Homeownership campaign and needs your help.

NAR is seeking to gather real life stories from homeowners and needs your help identifying individuals and families who fit the profiles listed here. Please send the homeowner(s) name, contact information a brief description of what profile they fit and why they might make a good human-interest story to awarenesscampaign@realtors.org. Information must be received by Friday, September 24.

According to the latest poll by the Siena Research Institute (SRI), New York State consumer home buying plans remained unchanged, staying at 2 percent for August. Overall, New York State consumer confidence decreased 0.5 points, while the nation's confidence increased 1.1 points. At 62.5, New York's overall consumer confidence is 6.4 points below the nation's confidence level of 68.9.
