The Global Concrete Summit was a first of a kind virtual event that was held from November 30 through December 10. If you missed it, there is still time to register for on-demand content; there's more than 16 hours of continuing education from over 30 speakers. The virtual conference and product expo brought practitioners, researchers, and policy makers together to exchange the latest ideas, knowledge and tools to build the future of concrete construction. Experts from around the world presented on the latest developments related to design, specifying, manufacturing, testing, construction, maintenance and research of concrete as it relates to sustainable development. Topics included innovation, resilience, life cycle assessment, low impact development, social responsibility, human health and more. NRMCA has verified an update to the system level Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) software program for RiverBend Materials, a CRH company and Association Producer member. NRMCA has verified newer operations data, including raw materials, from the company's concrete plants in the Willamette Valley, OR. With the update, RiverBend Materials will be able to demonstrate lower global warming potential (GWP) for its concrete mixes. Public access to the EPD is available on the NRMCA EPD website and is listed as NRMCAEPD: 20028 Riverbend Materials - EPD utilizing an enterprise software tool that generates EPDs at four plants owned and operated by RiverBend Materials, A CRH Company. The software tool was developed by Climate Earth and integrates LCA impacts with a mix design batch operating system to generate EPDs when desired. The updated operations data was reviewed and verified by Sustainable Solutions Corporation. The trend in reporting environmental, social and governance practices is growing and, with environmental impact criteria being discovered in green building construction documents and specifications, procurement decisions are leaning beyond price and performance. Where raw material suppliers demonstrate a lower embodied carbon for their customers, it will provide them increasing business opportunities in the future. To date, the North American ready mixed concrete industry, including material suppliers, have invested into 80 verified EPDs with >32,000 products/mixes and is the leading material industry that reports environmental impacts. Integral to the Build With Strength campaign, NRMCA promotes Strength Through Transparency for member and industry competitiveness in the green building marketplace and the trends toward product and company transparency. Government Affairs
Join us virtually, April 20-22, 2021, from noon to 4 p.m. Eastern time each day and advocate for the cement and concrete industry. During this event, individuals will be given the opportunity to virtually meet with members of Congress and their staffs to discuss issues impacting the industry such as a long-term infrastructure bill, increased funding for developing carbon capture technologies and other critical issues impacting our industry. During this three-day virtual event participants will also hear from key administration professionals and congressional committee leaders on their outlook on issues impacting your company. NRMCA's Ready Mixed Concrete Delivery Professional Driver of the Year Award, now in its 25th year and sponsored by the Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau (TMMB), acknowledges the significant contribution of ready mixed concrete truck drivers to the growth and success of individual companies and the ready mixed concrete industry. As a salute to these key members of the concrete production and delivery team, the award recognizes the driver’s career achievement, safety, professionalism, competence and customer service skills in a manner that will enhance the industry and public image of the career of Ready Mixed Concrete Delivery Professional. The 2021 Ready Mixed Concrete Truck Driver of the Year Award winner will be honored at an awards presentation ceremony at NRMCA’s Annual Convention in San Antonio, TX, in March 2021. The last two Certified Concrete Sales Professional (CCSP) series are now open for registration. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they will be taught online. Register now and take the fee as a 2020 expense. The schedule is as follows: • Module 3: RMC Business Knowledge, February 2-5, 2021 - Content is an overview of critical business concepts used in the RMC business, focusing on RMC job cost analysis. Assure your reps know the factors to price a job profitably without solely relying on a plug-and-chug software program.
