Become a sponsor today: your company’s marketing dollars are treasured every year and even more so now. They must go farther and do more. Because of this, sponsoring NRMCA’s websites, events and more should be your company’s first choice for the most efficient ROI. By becoming a sponsor, your company will target the decision-makers of NRMCA member companies, the companies that place the bulk of ready mixed concrete in the United States – these industry leaders turn to NRMCA for guidance, support and information. By becoming a sponsor, your logo, links and messages will reach these leaders at important times throughout the year. Plus, as members of NRMCA, they will value your support of the industry and of NRMCA.

Sponsorships are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please read and sign on the sponsorship guide linked below to be a part of a precisely targeted media program that reaches the people you need to reach – your customers. It all adds up to a great investment with a great return.

Business Advancement

Fact: people quit because they have serious issues with their immediate supervisor. In an environment where our industry cannot afford to lose one more mixer driver, it is critical that plant, operations, dispatch, fleet and driver managers, and supervisors understand the scope and tasks they are expected to execute as they relate to managing their direct reports. To stress the importance even more, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, the most common business lawsuit filed is by employees against their employers - and the employees cite their direct supervisors as the cause. Therefore, the class content includes industry-specific, hands-on exercises to develop solid procedures to increase efficiency and profitability by using better business processes and communication methods with front line employees.

The class is held just once a year; for 2019 that is January 22-24 in Kissimmee (metro-Orlando), FL. Click here for registration options and staff contact.

As part of the process of finalizing the 2019 version of ACI 318, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary, the revised Code is posted on the ACI website for public review and comment. ACI Committee 318 will review and respond to the comments before the document is published. The committee may choose to make revisions to the Code based on comments or to defer recommended changes as new business in the next Code cycle.

Chapters 19 and 26 are the primary sections of interest to the ready mixed concrete industry regarding requirements for concrete materials and mixtures. There have been several revisions to these chapters from the 2014 version of the Code and these changes are highlighted in the posted document. The public comment period is for 45 days beginning from December 21. A comment format file is also provided. The ACI 318 document should be saved and opened with the provided password. ACI 318-19 is expected to be published by summer 2019.

The ACI 318 version for public comment and comment form are posted here.

The NRMCA Regional Concrete Technologist Training and Certification program (Short Course) is scheduled for February 11-15, 2019, at the Marriott Orlando Airport Lakeside in Orlando, FL. Due to space restrictions, the number of registrants is limited to 55. A few spots still remain. Interested persons are encouraged to register early!

The Technical Short Course provides a fundamental understanding of concrete, aggregates and concrete making materials, requirements in industry codes and standards, and proportioning concrete mixtures. Attendees have the opportunity to obtain industry-recognized NRMCA certifications: NRMCA Level 2 and 3 Concrete Technologist certification and an optional NRMCA Grade II Field Testing Technician certification. The NRMCA Short Course is intended for quality, sales and other personnel with a technical role with ready mixed concrete companies and suppliers to the industry. New hires in these roles can also benefit from attending. A significant amount of technical content that requires the attendees to have a basic concrete technology background and at least a high-school level of math is covered in four days.

Information on the NRMCA Short Course is available here. Contact Karen Bean for more information and Jessica Walgenbach for registration information.
