Association & Industry News
Each year, NRMCA reviews candidates to serve on its Board of Directors. The Nominating Committee will review submissions during its meeting this fall and will determine the slate of Board nominees and state association representatives to be presented to the membership during the Annual Business Meeting next March. The committee encourages nominations from diverse backgrounds to ensure the Board is reflective of the Association’s membership. The basic requirements, in addition to a willingness to be an active and engaged participant, stipulate that each candidate must be committed to promoting NRMCA programs and working in the best interest of its membership and the industry while operating in accordance with NRMCA’s Strategic Plan and Vision 2030 objectives. The Board provides strategic direction, fiduciary oversight and governance of the organization’s operations. NRMCA Producer members in good standing are eligible to serve. Click here to review the Board Job Description. To nominate a candidate, please complete and submit this form to Heather Houck. Self-nominations are accepted. The deadline for nominations is Friday, July 25. Buildings

A report released last week by the American Cement Association’s (ACA) market intelligence team predicts the U.S. will need approximately one million metric tons of cement to construct data centers that will house Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology over the next few years. Data centers are typically built with high volumes of concrete due to their unique design considerations. Analysts also found that over the past decade, inflation-adjusted spending on data centers has grown by nearly 850%, with a 55% jump last year alone. By 2027, forecasters expect the number of data centers in the U.S. to reach 6,000. Currently, there are 5,426.

NRMCA's Pave Ahead and Build With Strength programs supported a Placer Day Event on June 20 in Seattle, reports Senior Director, Local Paving, Greg Halsted. Coordinated with the Washington Aggregates & Concrete Association (WACA) and held at the Cement Masons Local 528 Training Center at the South Seattle College Georgetown Campus, the interactive workshop attracted approximately 45 contractors, finishers, materials suppliers, designers, engineers and apprentices. The goal was to help concrete finisher crews and contractors effectively place and handle concrete mix designs featuring Portland-Limestone Cement (PLC) and other supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) through a hands-on format.
