The Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) hosted over 35 attendees (many shown here) at its Concrete Pavement Design Fall Seminar where NRMCA Senior Director, Local Paving, Luke McHugh demonstrated the effects of poor jointing practice and presented several case studies on how projects with poor layouts were improved. McHugh illustrated that the maximum joint spacing is usually not the preferred joint spacing and offered tips on what to do and not do when jointing concrete parking lot pavement.
In addition, IRMCA's Jim Randolph stressed why ACI Flatwork Certification should be in specifications and his colleague, Jesse Jonas, emphasized how ADA compliance is an important consideration when justifying concrete intersections and roundabouts.
