Concrete Council Convenes Roundtable Discussion with St. Louis Area Public Works Officials

The Concrete Council recently convened the first in a series of semi-annual roundtable exchanges (one is seen here) with public works officials from the largest municipalities in the St. Louis region along with member firm executives representing various segments of the concrete industry, reports Oliver "Skip" Dulle. Jesse Jonas, PE, the Council's director of engineering, served as facilitator and gave presentations on various topics based on recent feedback from public agency asset owners.

Topics included consideration of more standardized mix designs, cylinder handling, admixtures, curing, base and subgrade preparation, ACI flatwork certification and a general roundtable exchange to discuss issues, concerns, new technologies and developments along with other items of mutual interest. There was an overall sentiment that this exchange, over the course of nearly four hours, was extremely valuable as it raised several issues of benefit to municipal officials in achieving consistent lifespans for their assets, Dulle said. The Council will utilize feedback from this event in future program planning and in crafting specific educational and technical programs to address those matters. The next in this series is planned for April 2026.
