Last week, the NRMCA Safety, Environmental and Operations (SEO) Committee met to conduct its DeBoer Meeting outside of Dallas. The committee held safety, environmental and operations task group meetings and a full committee meeting held at the newly opened National Medal of Honor Museum (seen here with committee members) in nearby Arlington. The impressive structure that houses the museum, built in part with concrete from NRMCA Producer member Martin Marietta Materials, highlights the courage and sacrifice exhibited by the nearly 4,000 Medal of Honor recipients.
In addition to conducting business meetings, the committee took a guided tour of the museum and its exhibits. Museum President and CEO Chris Cassidy addressed committee members, discussing its inception, fundraising focuses and operations. Cassidy is both a retired U.S. Navy SEAL and NASA astronaut as well as a former NRMCA keynote speaker in 2021. In his remarks to the committee, Captain Cassidy stated that in addition to honoring the Medal of Honor recipients, the museum will hopefully also inspire courage, not just on the battlefield but in everyday life decisions.
The committee’s meetings were very productive; the group discussed relevant issues impacting the industry, new directions for committee activity, participation in ConcreteWorks and planning for the National Mixer Driver Championship taking place this fall.
