Ohio Concrete, BWS Partner on February ICF Session

NRMCA and Ohio Concrete are partnering on an educational event in Cleveland on Tuesday, February 22, that will provide the full construction team perspective on why insulating concrete form (ICF) construction is increasingly becoming the preferred choice for commercial projects. Attendees can attend the event live at the Tremco Building Science Laboratory in Cleveland or participate virtually. Architects can earn five AIA continuing education credits during the event which features the following topics:

• Commercial Construction with ICFs presented by Donn Thompson AIA, NRMCA senior director, building innovations, who will provide an overview of the growing popularity of ICF's for all types of multifamily, hospitality and educational projects
• Zero Energy, Carbon-Neutral Design Without Extra Cost presented by Ben Robertson, principal, and Thom Anderson, mechanical engineer, both with CMTA, Inc. The firm has been responsible for the mechanical design of multiple high performance concrete projects nationwide.
• ICF's, A Welcome Change presented by Tim Geegan, executive vice president with Alliance Corporation who will provide a general contractor’s perspective on the value of ICF's.
• Fiber Reinforced ICF's presented by Mike Mahoney, director at Euclid Chemical who will discuss the constructability improvements possible by using fiber reinforced concrete for these projects.
• ICF Net Zero Energy Schools presented by Kenny Stanfield, principal at Sherman, Carter, Barnhart Architects who will showcase the use of ICF's on numerous cost-effective energy efficient education projects.
• The Building Science Behind ICF Performance presented by Marcy Tyler, director at Tremco who will explain the how and why behind the exceptional energy performance of ICF exterior wall systems.
