House Transportation Committee Hosts Secretary Pete Buttigieg

On Thursday, March 25, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg testified before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee regarding the Biden Administration’s priorities for transportation infrastructure. The secretary emphasized the opportunity to make a “generational investment” in infrastructure, noting the trillion-dollar backlog of projects and the risk of the U.S. becoming less competitive than China and other nations.

Committee members were each given an opportunity to raise issues and ask questions of the secretary; Chairman DeFazio and Ranking Member Graves each expressed his hope that a surface reauthorization could be passed this Congress ahead of the expiration of the one-year FAST Act extension on September 30, 2021.
