On Saturday, September 26, President Donald Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the seat on the Supreme Court vacated by the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Beginning the confirmation process by mid-October will allow Republicans to fill the seat before the November 3 election. NRMCA has applauded President Trump’s policy of nominating judges in the mold of late Justice Antonin Scalia, for whom Judge Barrett clerked, with a skeptical view of the administrative state and broad reaching actions by the Executive Branch. NRMCA will be paying close attention to the confirmation hearings and process to determine how Judge Barrett’s decisions may impact issues important to the ready mixed concrete industry.
