A delegation of four NRMCA producers were in Las Vegas last month as guests of the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) Board of Directors and the ASCC Opening Night Kick Off Bash. The delegates included NRMCA Board of Directors Chairman Rodney Grogan, president of MMC Materials in Jackson, MS; past chairmen and ex-officio Board members Henry Batten, president of Concrete Supply in Charlotte, NC, and Ric Suzio, president of The L. Suzio Concrete Co., Inc., Meriden, CT, and NRMCA Board member Scott Olin, general manager of Dickenson Ready Mix Company & Concrete Products, Dickenson, ND. During the opening festivities they were joined by NRMCA Executive Vice President, Local Paving, Brian Killingsworth, Executive Vice President, Promotion Strategies, Gregg Lewis and Senior Vice President, Local Paving, Jon Hansen. Hansen also serves as NRMCA’s liaison to the ASCC as a member of the Board of Directors and a founding member of the NRMCA-ASCC Joint Paving Committee.
The mission of the NRMCA delegates and the results of meeting with ASCC contractors can best be summed up by the following comment from Mr. Grogan: “I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to meet with the ASCC Board on Monday morning and having the opportunity to discuss with them the benefits of NRMCA and ASCC members being more aligned on concrete construction opportunities for both buildings and paving. I found the ASCC board members to be very receptive to this opportunity.”
