NRMCA Registers Capitol Hill Victory on Farm Bill; Urges Member Action on Wood Issue

NRMCA Opposed Provisions NOT Included in Farm Bill - In a victory for NRMCA and coalition partners, the 2018 Farm Bill, which was made public late last week, did not include the full text of the Timber Innovation Act (TIA). In particular, the bill did not include language authorizing a Tall Wood Building Competition – something the wood industry has been pushing hard. This bill seeks to use taxpayer funds to promote the use of wood in the high-rise building market.

Despite this good news, NRMCA is stepping up its opposition to the TIA and its inclusion in the 2018 Farm Bill. Last week, NRMCA hosted a conference call to reactivate the Stop the Timber Innovation Act Coalition and NRMCA is working closely with members of the House Agriculture Committee ahead of this week's committee meeting to consider amendments to the Farm Bill.
