Engineering News-Record Ranks Top Green Construction Firms

Engineering News-Record (ENR) recently recognized the Top 100 green contractors with Turner Construction ranked number one in the United States. With more than $5.7 billion of sustainable construction completed in 2015, this accounted for over 50% of its total revenue; Turner delivered more than twice as much green work as the second ranked firm. Collectively, the group generated $48.71 billion in contracting revenue. Click here for listing of the top 100 green construction firms.

The ENR ranking provides insight into the green building market. If you look deeper into the ranking, one can realize the initiatives and resources that construction firms are undertaking to obtain build opportunities in a green construction marketplace influenced by evolving standards such as LEED. Therefore, how are building product suppliers positioning themselves to influence construction firms since they are ultimately the responsible stakeholder for selecting building materials?

At NRMCA's ConcreteWorks on September 19 from 2 to 3 p.m., there is an educational session titled LEED v4 and How to Position Your Company to Take Advantage of the Green Building Movement. The session will address new product transparency credits in LEED, such as Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental Product Declarations, Responsible Sourcing and Material Ingredient Disclosure. Credits that construction firms will need to address on future LEED projects.

As a supporting element in the Build with Strength campaign, NRMCA continues to develop resources and tools to support your competitiveness in the green building marketplace and the trends towards product transparency.
