NRMCA Seeks Participants for Government Affairs Capitol Hill Day

During the upcoming 2012 ConcreteWorks and Board of Directors’ Meeting, your participation is needed for the Government Affairs Capitol Hill day on Wednesday, September 19. Unlike in past years, this year’s Capitol Hill day will focus on a single issue.

NRMCA, in partnership with a handful of other organizations, is currently engaged in a lobbying campaign aimed at increasing the use of resilient construction techniques for new and repaired structures in disaster prone areas. Specifically, NRMCA is pushing for passage of NRMCA-drafted legislation, the Disaster Savings and Resilient Construction Act of 2012 (H.R. 5839). However, in order to ensure the success of H.R. 5839, we need your participation. Congress needs to hear from constituents about the benefits of resilient construction.

We strongly encourage you to participate in the Capitol Hill Day. Please plan on participating and scheduling meetings with your Members of Congress. If you need help scheduling meetings, please contact either Kerri Leininger (240-485-1159), Kevin Walgenbach (240-485-1157) or Heather Houck (240-485-1153). Prior to leaving for Capitol Hill, there will be a Congressional Briefing with a continental breakfast provided, starting at 7:30 a.m. If you plan to participate in the Capitol Hill Day, we must receive an RSVP! There will only be enough bus seats and briefing materials for those participating. Any last minute additions cannot be guaranteed. We look forward to seeing you later this month.
