NRMCA Senior Director, Local Paving, Amanda Hult recently partnered with Florida Masonry’s Dan Kroeker to provide masonry and concrete education to students at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Stock Development Department of Construction Management. The class of almost 50 students (many seen here) was taught how to construct columns and wall segments using concrete blocks. After the hands-on portion, students were presented information on Fundamentals of Concrete and Concrete Building Construction. Students were then shown miniature insulated concrete forms (ICF) in order to practice constructing with ICFs.

“This is the information we discuss in our materials class, and it is great to see that information connected to real applications and careers,” said university Professor Joel Wao. “We are always looking for industry support to allow these students to learn in a hands-on manner. It brings more value to their future workplace.”

NRMCA would like to get involved in your local schools and universities. If you have a personal contact within a college or university’s building construction or civil engineering program, please contact Amanda Hult.
