Concrete Council Annual Seminar for Engineers Draws Strong Response

The Concrete Council held its annual Professional Engineers Seminar for a record crowd of over 90 engineers on October 8. Seen here is Barclay Gebel of Concrete Strategies giving a very detailed presentation on TiltUp Concrete construction titled That’s TiltUp?! Other topics in the full-day program included Concrete Pumping, Cellular Concrete, Post-Tensioning Concrete Floors and Slabs and two outstanding local project presentations, the I-270 Mississippi River Bridge, a massive project by the Illinois Department of Transportation, and The Chapel of the Risen Christ, a groundbreaking example of aesthetic exposed concrete architectural design come to life despite many unique challenges.
The program provided six PDH credits for engineers and each year attracts professionals from a variety of local firms and agencies. This event generated nearly 600 Contact Hours for the Concrete Council's annual promotional program which is its primary promotional metric as each hour represents further exposure of concrete construction to those in attendance. The promotional impact of this Professional Engineers Seminar nudged the 2025 annual contact hours total for the Council very close to a record-breaking 5,000 hours which will be reached based on programs scheduled for the rest of the year.
