On June 28, NRMCA Senior Director, Building Innovations, Frank Mruk joined Populous Architects, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Western New York Chapter and Buffalo Bills leadership for a design update on their new Highmark Stadium scheduled for completion by July 2026. The event featured a behind-the-scenes look at the construction progress and design strategy for the new stadium with presentations from Buffalo Bills Vice President of Stadium Development John Polka and Vice President of Operations Andy Major.

Populous was represented by Project Manager Kelly Kerns and Architectural Designer Tim Struemph who shared insights into the stadium’s architectural vision, material performance requirements and operational goals. AIA Buffalo/WNY leadership was also in attendance, including Chapter President Roxanne Button, Past President Robert Szudzik and longtime contributor Ed Roether of Roether Consulting. The discussion highlighted the collaborative role of architects, construction managers and consultants in delivering high performance materials and solutions to one of the most anticipated sports infrastructure projects in the Northeast.

Mruk is also part of the team organizing the Construction Specifications Institute's Northeast Region Conference in Buffalo next spring. The conference is planning on featuring some of the first view tours of the new Highmark Stadium and promoting the benefits of high performance concrete.

NRMCA continues to engage with leading design professionals and builders to promote high-performance concrete solutions. For more information, contact Frank Mruk at fmruk@nrmca.org.
