NRMCA’s Patrick Matsche recently attended a meeting of the Washington Aggregates & Concrete Association (WACA) and the Washington chapter of the American Concrete Institute; the dinner meeting included a number of NRMCA members who heard from Dr. Jason Weiss of Oregon State University who discussed currently available and emerging cement technologies along with their effect on the ready mixed concrete industry. (Seen here are, from left to right, Matsche, WACA Executive Director Cory Shaw, his colleagues Mary Bauer and Ryan Matteson, and Weiss.)

Pacific Northwest and Washington-based ready mix producers continue to provide cutting edge solutions to the decarbonization efforts of the AEC community of architects, structural engineers and specifier community, Matsche said. Added Alex Colins of NRMCA member CalPortland, “we are going to continue to move the industry in a positive direction while meeting the needs of our clients and community.”

WACA in conjunction with NRMCA will host Low Carbon Concrete Symposium - Addressing Embodied Carbon in the Built Environment from June 18 - 20 in Seattle. In addition and back by popular demand, WACA is also hosting the Washington State Excellence in Concrete Awards following the educational sessions on June 19.

With the generous support of the ready mixed concrete industry, Build With Strength is recognized as the leader in supporting structural engineers, architects, end users and specifiers in achieving low carbon, high-performance concrete.
