NRMCA Senior Director, Local Paving, Greg Halsted recently assisted Northwest Cement Council (NCC) Executive Director Diane Warner in a NCC exhibit booth (seen here, with Halsted and Warner) at both the Washington and Oregon chapters of the American Public Works Association spring conferences held April 23 and 24 in Tacoma, WA, and April 29 through May 2 in Salem, OR. Halsted said they attracted over 800 public works personnel and 170 exhibitors, record attendance for both events.

Attendees took part in over 50 technical sessions covering numerous tracks focused on all aspects of planning, design, construction, maintenance and sustainability. The NCC booth had a great deal of technical information on both cement and concrete applications for public works, including concrete overlays, cement-based pavement solutions, concrete trails, portland limestone cement and more, Halsted said. Traffic at the exhibit booth was lively, with numerous individuals stopping by for information or engaging in discussions about specific projects.

Halsted also introduced attendees to NRMCA’s Build With Strength and Pave Ahead initiatives; discussed how attendees could benefit from the education and design assistance these programs offer; and followed up on leads generated from the conference.
