NRMCA is providing testimony on proposed code changes to the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC) in the first round of the International Code Council (ICC) Committee Group B Action Hearings that began Sunday, April 27, and conclude May 6 in Orlando, FL. NRMCA's Darryl Dixon, Julian Mills-Beale and Shamim Rashid-Sumar are participating in the hearings along with industry partners from the Alliance for Concrete Codes and Standards (ACCS) and Masonry Alliance for Codes and Standards (MACS).
They are providing technical information on issues impacting the ready mixed concrete industry, including but not limited to updating cement terminology, referencing new standards such as NRMCA 100 and ICC 605, combustibility testing requirements for noncombustible materials, reinforcement of concrete with GFRP and prescriptive limits for embodied carbon.
